November 6-7th

Clothing the Loop: Circular Design Festival

is a meeting point for fashion, activism, performance, and

purpose. A multi-faceted event celebrating sustainability across industries, Australian Dance Party and

co-producer Keli Studio are reinventing this event for its new venue at the CIT Woden Campus.

Held on the opening weekend of the Craft + Design Canberra Festival, Clothing the Loop will include

runway glamour, edgy contemporary dance, sensorial music and stimulating conversation, inviting

powerful dialogue towards change. Now over two days, the festival re-imagines our relationship with our

clothes, our home, and the world around us. Clothing the Loop asks what it means to design, use and

value our everyday items, re-framing them as a medium for care, creativity, and collective action.

The Friday Evening Spectacular will be a glamorous event, showcasing sustainable fashion collections

from leading local and national designers, including First Nations label, Corella & Crow and Australia

fashion icon, Linda Jackson OAM. Explore captivating displays and circular design stalls, hear from

inspiring change makers, watch stunning contemporary dance by Australian Dance Party, and dance the

night away.

On Saturday, we invite you to get hands-on with the future of design. Workshops explore repurposing

materials, building basic sewing skills, and creative textiles. Panels discuss sustainable practices across

fashion, architecture / interiors, and performance. Key speakers include Linda Jackson OAM, Clodagh

Crow (ABC Play School), and Thor Diesendorf (Thor's Hammer). The full day pass includes

Auslan-interpreted talks, tours of the CIT campus, family activities, a clothes swap, participation in the

Great Global Mend, and circular designer market stalls.

Clothing the Loop celebrates Canberra’s place as a City of Design, innovation, and climate-conscious

culture and is presented in partnership with Canberra Institute of Technology. The festival gathers

diverse designers, artists, and the community in a shared act of creative dissent, it highlights how art and

design can challenge systems, inspire dialogue, and spark real change.

Immerse Yourself in Thoughtful Design

Kelli Donovan weaves a creative journey that spans the past, present, and future. Rooted in slow fashion techniques, Kelli’s slow fashion designs, sustainable consulting and innovative workshops embody a spirit that goes beyond aesthetics – it’s about elevating women to live their most creative and healthiest lives by igniting their passion to care for their communities, families and creativity in their businesses and learning journeys.

Why Sustainable Fashion Matters

Time to Rewind, Rethink, and Redefine

In a pivotal moment in human and environmental history, we stand at the crossroads of change to prevent further damage to our climate and eco systems. Kelli embraces the wisdom of her female ancestors, drawing on their tailoring techniques and artistic pursuits to create clothing and purpose driven education by encouraging clothing and textiles that can be cherished and cared for longer time frames. It’s time to slow down our consumption, savouring the simple joys of slow living and creativity and respect of what we have already have made in commercial manufacturing and retailing excess to be reused and recycled by embracing the UN - Sustainable Development goals to protect planet, people and ignite our passions for creativity again.
